aftercare
aftercare
I will go through aftercare instructions after our appointment, but just in case, it will be detailed below depending on if you are wrapped in plastic or in second skin.
Second Skin Aftercare
As long as the seal has not been broken on your second skin, you can leave it on for the first 24 hours. after 24 hours or if the seal breaks, remove in the shower for easiest removal. I recommend picking up a corner that is loose and pull parallel to the body to break the adhesion- under running water will help the most.
Once removed, wash hands thoroughly and then wash your fresh tattoo with an Antibacterial, non- fragrance soap such as Dial Gold. After washing, let your tattoo air dry or pat dry with a clean paper towel.
After it is dried, apply a THIN layer of Aquaphor over your tattoo. There should not be so much ointment that is tacks up when touched.
You will wash and ointment your tattoo for 3-4 times a day for 2 weeks.
Your tattoo will heal like a sunburn. The damaged layer of skin will begin to peel off- do not pick at it or any scabs that form! Your tattoo may begin to itch, but do not scratch your new tattoo.
Avoid direct sunlight during these two weeks. Although showering is okay, water and soaking your tattoo is to be avoided for two weeks. No pool, beach, bath or hot tub under any circumstances!
Avoid tight or restrictive clothing on the tattoo area. When possible, wear loose breathable clothing.
Plastic Wrap Aftercare
Remove plastic wrap after an hour.
For only the first night after your tattoo, it is suggested to rewrap in plastic wrap to contain the blood and plasma that may leak through the night. This is the only time you should rewrap in plastic after the initial wrap you leave with.
